Reading Livestock Feed Labels
The Kentucky Commercial Feed Law and Regulations follow the labeling elements listed in the AAFCO Model Bill for commercial livestock feeds.
This means that labels should include, at a minimum, a product name, product purpose statement, a guaranteed
analysis listing specific nutrients per species, a list of ingredients, feeding directions, the manufacturer
name and address, and a net weight statement. False or misleading statements and inappropriate animal food
claims are not allowed.
