Inspections
Laboratory Inspections:
These are completed by our Milk Inspector to ensure proper equipment maintenance and proper laboratory procedures for analyses regulated by the milk program. Most laboratories are inspected biannually with priority follow-ups provided when concerns are identified.
Sample Storage Refrigerator Inspections and Transfer Station Inspections:
Official milk samples are placed in sample storage refrigerators by licensed sampler-weighers at both dairy processor and transfer station locations. The Milk Inspector evaluates milk sample storage conditions at facilities within their respective areas.
Audits
Producer Pay Record Audits:
These are conducted by our Milk Inspector to ensure proper payment to Kentucky dairy producers. These audits occur at licensed buyer locations that issue payments to Kentucky producers and are most often conducted on a biannual basis.
Bulk Milk Ticket Audits:
Bulk milk ticket audits are general reviews of milk hauler record keeping practices. The Milk Inspector conducts these audits at facilities that receive Kentucky milk, usually on a biannual basis.
