Reading labels
The Kentucky Commercial Feed Law and Regulations follow
the labeling elements listed in the AAFCO Model Bill for Pet and Specialty Pets
for pet and specialty pet foods. This means that pet food labels should include a product name, intended use, a guaranteed analysis, a list of ingredients,
feeding directions, calorie content, nutritional adequacy statement (for complete and balanced foods), the manufacturer name and address, and a net weight
statement. False or misleading statements and inappropriate animal food claims are not allowed.
