Endophyte testing is available for tall fescue and can be conducted on both live tillers and seed. The test detects the presence of the Endophyte fungus only, not individual ergot alkaloids.
Our Endophyte Submittal form includes additional information and should be included with your sample.
When you take tillers for testing, we recommend you utilize the services of your county extension office.
If you choose to take the samples yourself, please carefully follow the instructions in this article: Sampling for the Tall Fescue Endophyte in Pasture or Hay Stands.
Note: For the most accurate test results tillers should be collected during the active growing season. In Kentucky, that is roughly May through Oct/Nov.
