The Seed Regulatory Program seeks to achieve voluntary compliance through administration of a comprehensive, outreach oriented program based on provisions of the Kentucky Seed Law. Key components of the program include:
- Monitoring – these activities include our permitting and registration processes along with routine visits by our inspection staff to seed distributors.
- Sampling – during regular visits to seed distributors, our inspection staff routinely obtain official samples of seeds offered for sale in Kentucky.
- Analysis – official samples obtained by our inspection staff are tested at the Regulatory Services Seed Laboratory to determine if label guarantees and quality standards are met.
- Reporting – test results from official seed samples and an annual Seed Inspection Report are distributed to stakeholders.
